The FINAL mextli (monthly/moon) drop of
Forces and Lovers 5 is here. The satisfaction of completion is sweet. December is a month dripping in symbolism, lore and celebration. In my personal experience, three Decembers in a row (2020, 2021 & 2022) were markers of goodbyes and endings.This release is a closing, an honoring, and also an opening. This project is fully birthed. Where and how it will grow is up to the great mystery. I humbly surrender. A thousand thank yous for witnessing.

The November mextli (monthly/moon) drop of Forces and Lovers 5 is an ode to transformation. The magic of November is thick. The ancestors are active. The construct of time melts away to reveal the interconnectedness of past, present and future in every moment. This drop also features my exploration into the art of stand up :) Thank you November for always imbuing me with the bravery needed to move forward in bold, new ways.

Forces and Lovers 5 arrives to the mark of my solar return. Beautiful October. Magical light. Mystical forces that activate and gather potency. Change illustrates the fleeting glory that can only be held in the NOW moment. My birthday month excites me and it also terrifies me. To be awake to the human experience and to choose to feel so deeply is no small feat. My liberation and love is sourced from within and connected to all. We are not free until we are all free. My people, I love you. Carry on we must.

Forces and Lovers 5 delves into the fall. The equinox. My abuela’s day of birth. Turning points and promises to self. September is a month of restoring faith. Of getting back on track. Of seeking deep truth and honoring one’s path. Endings and beginnings in continuous motion and winds of change.

In the August mextli (monthly/moon) drop of Forces and Lovers 5, I break my own rule by featuring my current 2023 self. The format for this project has been to cover 5 years (2018-2022). Yet the song, dance, and sad confessionals that came from alchemizing grief needed to pour out into this creation. The natural performer in me bursted forth through cosmic chaos, intense heartbreak and mourning the loss of a loved one.

It’s Leo season babe, and it’s the July mextli (monthly/moon) drop of Forces and Lovers 5. As someone with a natal Leo moon, I yearn for an audience. I’m tending to this project, laboring in love, keeping it lowkey, and not sharing with hardly anyone. Yet I’m ready. I choose me. I want me. I love me. On repeat. The end. You’re worth it. Roar on lioness, roar on.

The June mextli (monthly/moon) drop of
Forces and Lovers 5 marks the halfway point of this project. The month of June in true Gemini fashion is busy and loaded. I saw the dualities of my experience highlighted. The light and dark. The pleasure and pain. The productivity, anxiety and exhaustion from all that culminates in June. June is a showcase month. A marker of the end of spring and the accomplishments that came forth. A longing for true summer to begin. Thank you June, so long.

Forces and Lovers 5 focuses in on the month of May. Continued from my personal break(through) in April 2018, the first photoshoots in the video were taken after I returned home from the living nightmare of my hospital experience. May seemed to hone in on the big questions: the eternal quest, the bridge between heaven and earth, uncovering the true nature of self, again and again.

The April mextli drop of Forces and Lovers 5 is the genesis, the germ, the true motivation behind this whole project. This was the breaking point in my life and an initiation into many fires, ego deaths, and healing rites of passage that would follow. Looking at these Aprils side by side, I could see the lessons that rang the loudest were: Expansion is the way. Upward is the direction. We are supported, Goddess got us. Let the blessings pour in and let the truth flow.

The March mextli drop of Forces and Lovers 5 is split into four parts. The spring equinox. New life booming forth. The fiery charge of Aries season. Thank you to the primavera goddesses who nurture and energize us during this time of year. So much change. The one constant.

Forces and Lovers 5 ventures into the elusive and magical month of February. Self love and acceptance. Inner life sparks (chispas). Inner world thaws. Frozen rainbows melt and color glimmers again. Even if fickle. This video drop became glued together with a February audio recording of me reading a forward written by the late Desmond Tutu. Eternal gratitude.

The first release of Forces and Lovers 5 begins in alignment with the Gregorian calendar, the month of January. Looking at the marathon of a month from 2018 - 2022, one central point of focus I noticed was my mom. It’s her birthday month and it was fitting that this personal archive & experimental video project begins with her. The being who birthed me into the world.
Lovingly dedicated to:
1. The 5 (five) pieces of Coyolxauhqui, the Mexica moon goddess.
2. Kaya, the sun/moon-fur angel dog's life on earth at 5 (five) years old.
3. Saturn - The teachings that came through while daddy Saturn, my ruling planet, was in Capricorn and Aquarius for the last 5 (five) years.
4. The process of metamorphosis - For me, from trauma and crisis to transcendence and transformation into a poeta, artist, magic/healing practitioner.
5. My mom and all of the other mothers, including the mothering parts of my own being and most of all, our shared Pachamamita.
